Bharat Mehta has been working with the PET Packaging Industry for past 3 decades. He has worked with brand owners on Supply Chain Costs Reduction, Energy and space reduction for value addition and greater market access by use of PET Packaging. Practiced 3R Mantra for positioning Sustainable PET Packaging: Reduction (Right Light weighting); Reuse (Develop resins for Returnable 20 ltr); Recycling (Since late 1990s involved with PET recycling developments – Bottle to Fibre, Bottle to Bottle etc).

To ease out working capital requirements of MSME Producers, he helped create JIT (Just in Time) Delivery centres pan India for Quick Commerce in PET Packaging and availability for small lot shipments. Mehta has worked closely with downstream – water, non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages, pharmaceuticals, edible oils, personal care products for developing solutions and strategy for growth. He gathered State-wise Consumption of PET packaging and recycling capacities for growth strategy in Circular Economy.

His Advocacy efforts include awareness drives in various states, schemes rewarding consumers for returning bottles (Reliance Retail, Indian Railways), Social media messaging, Joint efforts with various Associations. Helped in import substitution and ‘Make in India’ by developing Injection Moulding Grade for Blood Collection Tubes and Injection Moulding market. In mid 1990s, Mehta surveyed nearly 300 FMCG companies to estimate their future Flexible packaging demand. He is the VP PET Marketing (PET Packaging – Sales, Business Development, Sustainability & Recycling) having worked at Reliance Industries since 1995. Prior to this he worked with organisations including Ester Industries Ltd (BoPET Films – Market Research) and Swadeshi Polytex Ltd (PSF manufacturing).

Mehta is the Vice President for PET Packaging Association for Clean Environment (PACE). He holds a B.Tech degree (Chemical Engineering) from NIT, Warangal, PGDBM (Marketing) from IMT Ghaziabad, and a Certificate in Export Marketing from IIFT New Delhi.
